This disables the abs system and the traction control system, it will also disable the 4 wheel drive system if not engaged before movement. Ambient temp must rise above 25 degrees to reverse the symptoms. This is a serious safety hazard for anyone that lives in a cold climate. See all problems of the Nissan Frontier.

My mechanic says there is one sensor associated with the ABS on this vehicle. Is this an indication of something I should be concerned about?
This is telling you there is an issue with the braking system that could be dangerous. The ABS light going on could be in response to the brake light, and could be shutting off the ABS system to prevent brake system damage.
There are at least 4, one on each wheel. There is also a brake fluid pump and accumulator that have pressure sensors. Repairing these systems can get very expensive. What should I look for in the owner manual? What should I look for?
As to the flip remark to remove it, well, I thought it was there for a reason and thought someone on this forum would know something relevant. Maybe someone besides you.
On my vehicle, the brake warning light is triggered by the level of fluid in the master cylinder, indicating a hydraulic leak or worn pads, or by the parking brake handle being pulled. It does not initiate the ABS warning light. The brake warning light going on because the parking brake is engaged or the fluid level low will not turn on the ABS light. There are other sensors in the brake system that WILL turn on both lights. Some brake systems have a sensor on the master cylinder that will get triggered if there is a problem with the pressure differential between the two brake circuits.
This problem should trigger the ABS light with the brake light. Mountainbike, I have a Camry and the brake light system is exactly as you describe. I checked this out in the factory manual wiring diagram.
The brake light is only illuminated by the brake handle or the fluid is low in the reservoir. I was surprised at this since previous cars I had used a pressure differential switch to turn on the light. BustedKnuckles July 5,pm 2. Have you checked your brake fluid level? The ABS computer continuously monitors a number of sensors throughout the Vehicles in order to ensure that the anti-lock braking system is functioning properly Vehicles all times. When the ABS computer detects a problem with the system, it stores a trouble code in its internal memory and turns on the ABS light. Take the vehicle to a mechanic and have the anti-lock brake system checked and any necessary repairs made.
Usually this will turn off the ABS light, but not always. If not, proceed to Step 2. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "Run" position the position right before the one used to engage the engine. Locate the DIC control panel on the dashboard in front of the driver's seat under the speedometer. Open your Explorer's hood and loosen the retaining nut on the negative battery cable clamp using a socket wrench and a 10 millimeter socket. Check the dash to verify that the ABS light has gone out.
This process also resets all trouble codes in the Explorer's computer, so all other warning lights will reset as well. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the second position. This is the position just before the engine starts. Open the hood of the Ford and loosen the nut on the negative battery cable clamp.
You can do this with a 10mm wrench. Put the clamp back in place and tighten the nut. Look on the dashboard to make sure the ABS light has turned off. This resets all lights in the car and the clock as well.

Basically, the warning light alerts the driver that the safety system is no longer active.
Anti-lock brake system ABS is very familiar to modern cars. This system has the functions of maintaining control and directional stability of a car when extreme braking happens.
When one or more tires start to skid, they will lose traction allowing the vehicle to move in whatever direction it wants, even totally sideways. Research has proven that a vehicle with an ABS system can decrease the risk of a vehicle accident by 18 percent by controlling the rotational speed of each wheel.
Located near the wheel, a wheel speed sensor is used to control the rotational speed of the wheel. This information is sent to the computer module, which measures all of the data from 4 wheel sensors. If the computer detects one or more wheels turning slower than the others, it will alert the valve to reduce the pressure of the brake line and then have the pump maintain this pressure to enable the wheel to start rolling again.
This is why you might feel the brake pedal vibrate if the system is activated. If the ABS system detects a problem, a fault code will be generated and then stores in the system memory to turn the warning light. Although early models included many parts, most of the modern systems are basic and consisted of 4 wheel speed sensors, main computer module, a valve and hydraulic pump assembly at every wheel. This helps to make the price of the parts more affordable as well as simplify repairs.
To begin with how to fix ABS lightpark your car over a stage with the engine off and setting the transmission and the emergency brake. It is protected by a fuse that may blow with time.
2012 Nissan frontier abs and traction control light on. 4x4 blinks
At first, replace the faulty fuse. In case it blows repeatedly, we can conclude that there is a problem in the pump motor or ABS computer. The ABS wheel sensor monitors the wheel rotation, controlled by its computer. This sensor works as a conjunction with the wheel stator attached to axle brake rotor, bearing hub or CV joint. With time, these sensors may short out as they are subject to vibration or road conditions. The ABS controller works in monitoring the wheel speed and may stop functioning like any other electronic device.
You can see the computer on the top of the pump motor, attached to around five mounting bolts. The wheel speed sensor and the other sensor work in combination to monitor the rotation speed of the wheel. A damaged wheel ring causes trouble to the whole system. In any case, the ring damages or dislocates in a way that the teeth remain absent, this, activates the system. Further, the system stays activated assuming the wheel is rotating slower than all others.
One of the causes responsible for ABS light stays on is losing hydraulic pressure. When inspecting why your ABS warning light stays onyou need to inspect the levels in your brake reservoir to see whether it has lost a significant amount of brake fluid or not.
Low levels of the brake fluid is a possible cause making the warning light stays on. On the other hand, if the levels are not perfect, it might be that you are losing pressure on one side of the vehicle, which can be very dangerous.
Therefore, you should try to find out how to reset ABS brake system. Each vehicle has 2 hydraulic circuits and you need to inspect both of them as well. In the situation when the main line fails, the dual hydraulic system works as a fail safe, so there is still the opportunity that the second set of brakes will kick in and enable the car to stop. These are built into a check valve system that enables one to turn when the other turns off.
So if you detect damaged parts in the hydraulic circuits, you can replace them, but if the ABS light stays onyou may have a more dangerous issue in the actual brake lines. Another reason causing ABS light stays on is the emergency brake.
