Hello, My brake light recently came on and it has gone off a few times, but not it remains on all the time. I checked my brake fluid and it was good. Is there anything else I should try before I take it to the dealer?? Thank you! Christopher answered 9 years ago.
Brake light remains on. (In dashboard light)
I've seen animals chew through the wires to the brake fluid pressure switch. I haven't ever seen the switch itself be bad, but there's a first time for everything.
I'd say that it's time to go see your local Kia dealer. Kiaowner24l answered 6 years ago. This maybe helpful, a few years late for some though. Check the switch located up on the brake pedal, it may be broken. Jaslady answered 5 years ago. Hard plastic, but easily broken is many pieces. Wonder what this is? I told my husband to pull the fuse for the brakes, so it doesn't end up draining my battery. Robert answered 5 years ago. Jaslady, you got it right. Brake lights would not go out.
Checked the floor under the brake and there was the broken yellow life saver. Thank you for posting. I just wedged the broken piece between the brake arm and the assembly so the lights would go off for the night. Upon returning home, took car to local dealer. This time dealer was able to re-create and indicated they found a bad wheel speed sensor. Even moving at idle vehicle was hard to stop and could not be stopped quickly. After 2 to 5 stops, it would work normal again.
Replaced both rear brake calipers, pads and rotors. Shop repaired at no cost, was replaced with new calipers last summer. Kia took the warranty to the store and installed the rotors. Brought it in to be diagnosed. Dealer said that one wheel sensor was bad and the other was intermittent, but didn't have the parts in stock to repair, so no actual part replacement was done.

I pulled each fuse and checked the socket the fuse plugs into on the panel with a 12 volt test light that there is no power coming to any of these fuses. What is the best of troubleshooting this? Should I pull the fuse panel to check the connections?
If so, how do I release the panel? Thanks for any info! Brainybear72 answered 5 years ago. From what I read you have checked all the mini fuses.
People don't realize that there are maxi fuses which are superior to the mini fuses which could also blow out. This may be your problem. IF this also is not, check to see if any relay is bad. Pull a similar good relay that you know works for another system and plug it into that port. If it works then you know the other one is bad. If there is no change then plug first relay into the second relay's port to see if the other systems work again.
So now both relays are checked. Other than that tracing a wire in a vehicle is NOT an easy thing because the factories mass wire them with some used in this model but not that model and vice versa. So what I do is simply create a new power feed to the circuit if all else of searching fails. There is a factory recall involving brake lights I think. If it is the recall issue it will be replaced by a dealer at no charge.
You may want to check on that. DotRat27 answered 5 years ago. I took a test light and found there was no power going to the fuse under the dashboard that controls all those items.
