Feedback on Q2 Community Roadmap.I understand this sounds like a question for PL Support, but we've been stumped and at this point I'm trying to get any help or ideas I can try, in addition to working with PL Support.

idrac default port

As part of the installation, I have a bootable CD with a custom Linux kernel. When booted from the CD, the server should initialize network connections then contact the PL central servers and install things. However, I never manage to get past the network initialization. The server has an Enterprise license. It is on Dedicated mode.

The error I got was "Device eth0 does not exist, most likely this CD does not support your hardware.

idrac default port

The error message remains the same. As a test, I tried using the CD to boot up on a few other Dell desktop computers I didn't note the model numbersand this time the CD recognizes eth0 on those machines running Windows 7 Enterprise, though it shouldn't matter since the OS was not even booted up yet. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out what, and am running out of ideas. Or even one of the 4 ports.

Dell PowerEdge. Как настроить IP-адрес контроллера iDRAC9 и LifeCycle Controller

The CD will never recognise the drac and no should it. It should recognise the internal nics but probably calls them em1 and em2. Sometimes the iDrac is a dedicated management port with no pass through, you would get no connectivity if that is the case here. You would need two connections to the server in that case on for dedicated management port and one for server networking, remember iDrac is basically it's own embedded computer within the server chasse.

Additionally it's possible that the CD doesn't have drivers for the NICS if the hardware is brand spanking new this is possible. If that's the case you may need to introduce the drivers by USB, or custom install disk with the drivers in them. Although since you haven't plugged anything into the actual network ports yet, or so it seems, it may also not be detecting them because they aren't active due to no network connection in them.

Seeing this written out made me realize it was not the greatest idea, so thank you for the wake-up call. I apologize for the vague wording in my original post. I have a test CentOS installation on the server, and with a public address assigned to one of the cards em1 as identified in ifconfigI was able to connect to the Internet. When I unplugged the cable from the NIC on the desktop machine, the boot CD still sees eth0, except it reports that "link is not ready".

So on my server at least, where it says "device eth0 does not exist", the boot CD isn't even seeing the NICs. Thanks for all the responses, it does look like a driver issue. Thanks for pointing me towards that solution! To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. DellFollowers - Follow Mentions Products. Samuel Dell.
