I have this same exact problem with my C I have pulled it apart, blew it out, tried with and without dock, taken the drives out It just shuts down. I honestly dont think it is a heat problem because it doesnt get hot.

It will not even stay on long enough to POST after it fails a couple times. It seems if you let it sit for a while, it will power up and boot and you can use it for about 5min. Then it turns off.

Then each time you boot after that it progressively gets worse to the point of not even staying on long enough to get into the bios setup.

So, Going to replace the battery since I just got it. In the meantime, the fix is to stay with AC and set the power plan to do nothing in critical level. I suspect that Dell did something to "not play nicely" with OEM batteries. Let's see how the replacement OEM works. This same thing happens to me! When I plug in the battery, Dell's inhouse software recognises it as a certified part, healthy, et cetera.

However, occasionally the laptop will randomly shut down while in use, and I've also noticed that small notification about the critical level. I'm not sure who to complain to - Dell, for not supporting their own OEM parts or pulling an Apple by forcing you to buy directly from them, or the OEM manufacturer for making a part that's faulty the battery level being misread.
